10 Grounding techniques everyone should know

Grounding is a technique that encompasses practicing activities that center and align your body, mind and soul, and reconnect your body with the Earth's natural frequency. During high stress situations, times where you feel overwhelmed or anxious, and in the winter time when you may get a little disconnected from the Earth due to spending more time indoors- grounding can be very beneficial to help align our physical, mental and spiritual being.

Here is a list of my top 5 favorite grounding techniques that are relatively simple for everyone to practice on a day to day basis.


  1. Use grounding essential oils such as patchouli, frankincense or vetiver. Make sure your essential oil is diluted first, then add a few drops to the palms of your hands, rub them together and cup your hands around your nose and mouth while inhaling deeply through your nose and out your mouth.

  2. Meditation with a low frequency sound.

  3. Gardening is a great way to literally and figuratively align your body to the Earth's frequency. Depending on the climate where you live, indoor gardening is totally acceptable.

  4. Breathwork. There are many ways to practice breathwork, but overall, practicing a slow and steady pace breathing in through your nose and out your mouth in a relaxed position for a short period of time is a great way to reset and reconnect.

  5. Identify and repeat your senses. Something you see, something you smell, something you hear, something you feel, and something you taste. This method is a great tactic to keep in your back pocket if you begin to feel overwhelmed and overcome with anxiety.


Other methods of grounding may include walking barefoot outside, also referred to as "earthing", yoga, reading a wholesome book, using your hands to cook a homemade meal, taking a warm bath by candlelight, enjoying a peaceful fire outside by the light of the moon and so on.
