Frequently Asked Questions

How do you make all of your products fresh?

Typically, I set aside a few days a week to formulate products fresh!
All items are hand crafted in small batches, less than 2000mL in size.
I keep a small stock of products ready to go, to ensure a quick turn around time. 

Considerations for natural, plant based products?

Handmade products may have slight variations in each batch! Due to the plant based nature of AuraPure products and lack of chemical intervention, ingredients may separate over time.
It is suggested to shake your products before use to help emulsify the ingredients back together if any separation does occur. To keep your products in the best condition and allow for maximum longevity, you should store them in a cool, dark space, away from heat and humidity. It is not suggested to keep any AuraPure products in your vehicle and you may want to be cautious about storing items in your purse or bags. All AuraPure Products that are applied topically and contain Optiphen (a paraben and formaldehyde free preservative) will have a shelf life up to 1 year after receiving. Items such as Tinctures & Elixirs, Botanical Blends, Herbal Oils, Body Butters, Oil Blends and Essences will have a shelf life around 1 year from the time they are opened. 

Ways to reuse glass bottles/jars?

There are tons of ways to reuse your glass bottles and jars! Simply soak in warm, soapy water to allow for easier label removal and wash as normal. Sweet Orange Essential Oil, Vinegar and/or alcohol can be helpful in removing sticky residue.
I have seen many folks use old jars to keep healing stones, jewelry, spare change, beads for crafting or even seeds for gardening! What is super cool about the glass jars that I package many of my products in, is that they are designed for canning! Once your product is gone and you have washed it out, reuse any of the small, medium or large glass jars to can fruits, vegetables, jams and more! Smaller dropper bottles make great travel size containers, while any larger bottles can be utilized for various diy products. The possibilities for reusing your bottles and jars really is endless! 

Are all of the ingredients in AuraPure products organic?

Almost all ingredients used in AuraPure products are USDA Certified Organic, with the exception of a few, making AuraPure Essentials as a whole, nearly 95% Organic. There are a couple of reasons as to why AuraPure is not completely organic; some ingredients may not be available in an organic version (some clays & salts) or they may be out of budget. Organic ingredients can be very expensive and as I do strive for all organic- $200 for 10mL of an essential oil is quite difficult for a small business owner to afford! All herbs, carrier oils, waxes & butters are always organic or wildcrafted locally and about 95% of essential oils are certified organic. Other ingredients such as cetyl alcohol and OliveM 1000 are COSMOS certified (EU regulation) and RSPO Certified.

Are AuraPure Products Vegan and cruelty free?

There are only 2 ingredients that I use in my products that are not vegan, Manuka or Raw Honey and Beeswax. All ingredients used in production are either wildcrafted, sourced from a local, small business or purchased from like-minded vendors that align with my desires to be sustainable, eco-friendly and consciously sourced. Plant Therapy, Mountain Rose Herbs and Starwest Botanicals are my top 3 suppliers and businesses I highly recommend to anyone in search of quality herbs or oils.

Do you use any preservatives?

In products that contain water or are more likely to come in contact with water, I do use a low-tox broad spectrum preservative. The preservative I use is called Optiphen, which is a blend of Phenoxyethanol & Caprylyl Glycol. Optiphen is a paraben free and formaldehyde free preservative that is used between 0.5% and no more than 1% in AuraPure formulations- and only used when absolutely necessary. Using a little bit of a low-tox preservative is the safest way to hold a stable shelf life in products. No one wants mold or bacteria growing in their lotion or scrub!

Where do you get your formulas?

As a self taught herbalist and cosmetic formulator, I have done a significant amount of research through various sources (Books, Ebooks, Youtube, research studies, workshops, general web searching, etc) over the years. All of my formulas are completely unique and created simply based on my own knowledge of each individual ingredient, as well as my understanding on how each ingredient functions with others. I have done extensive amounts of trial and error on each of my formulas, including testing of final products over extended periods of time. The only place you should find the formulas for AuraPure products, should be on this website, and this website only!

What is your policy on Cancellations, Returns and Refunds?

Depending on how long after ordering a customer inquires about canceling, will determine how we proceed with the cancellation process. Typically, only 50% of your order will be refunded if you cancel 24 hours or later after an order has been placed, to cover any costs that may have been incurred already. If you cancel within 24 hours of placing the order, you may be eligible for a full refund upon submitting a cancellation request submission through the contact page
If you are unsatisfied with the product you received or it was damaged, you may write in to the contact page or write to us via email at AuraPureEssentials@gmail.com
All Cancellations/Returns and Refunds shall be assessed individually.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Both pick up orders and orders shipped through USPS will take around 1-2 Weeks to make products fresh, package and process.
Pickup & Local Delivery Orders; Once your order has been fulfilled, please check your text messages and/or email for steps on how to proceed. There will be direct communication between AuraPure Essentials and the customer to coordinate a convenient date/time for both parties to be available for pick up or local delivery.
Orders shipped through USPS; Once your order has been fulfilled and tracking information has been added to your invoice, your order should take about 2-5 days to be processed and delivered with the mail carrier. After orders have been taken to the post office, AuraPure is no longer responsible for what happens to the package as it is now out of the businesses control and in the hands of USPS. If there ever is an issue with your order, please contact USPS to address any issues (if you have not received the package or if your package is damaged) and utilize the insurance to be reimbursed by USPS. Orders damaged or lost in the mail will only be remade & resent upon proof of insurance utilization being emailed to AuraPureEssentials@gmail.com.

How long will my products last?

As a general rule of thumb, it is best to use your product no more than 2 years from the batch date.

I typically recommend to use your product within one year if it contains water or can be contaminated easily (like a scrub or body butter). Products that may come in contact with regular water exposure, such as scrubs, will contain a preservative to help maximize shelf life. Products that do not contain a preservative such as body butters, salves, herbal oils and bum butter typically are not used in or around water, but it is important to be mindful of bacteria from your hands and environment. Contamination can occur if you have dirty hands and scoop some body butter out of a jar, or if you have wet hands and go to use your salve. Any products that are not formulated with a preservative, can be upon request.

Products like Herbal Teas, Botanical Essences generally can hold a shelf life for the longest amount of time (several years) because they have less contamination concerns.

If it doesn't look peculiar, smell off or show any other signs of bacteria growth, mold or rancidity, it more than likely is okay to use... but always err on the side of caution for your own health and safety.
